[/size]

This is a different trip from the one Linda mentioned, but thought it might be of interest, since we're talking about trips to China.
So, to show my dedication to this group (), I just unpiled 6 large boxes of handwriting materials to find "The China Anthology—Lectures of the first graphological delegation to China", a monograph put together by Patricia Wellingham-Jones as a result of the trip to China in 1987. Here are her opening comments: "In 1986, I was invited by U.S. Exchanges to lead a delegation of graphologists to China. After consideration, I decided to take up the challenge and see if my graphological colleagues were interested in this pioneer venture. To my knowledge, graphologists had never gone anywhere as a group (discounting conventions, which are gatherings, not trips. We had certain not been invited to China, en masse, to lecture at their universities and share information with their scholars.
I had also never travelled as the leader of such a group, with all the responsibilities and honors that implies. The trips was given splendid coverage in graphological journals and newsletters. Local newspapers, and some not so local, ran articles on the trip - and ask for participants. We gathered fifteen people and flew off to make history. Our delegation was international. Paul Ferguson represented the British Institute of Graphologists in Great Britain. Marie-Josee Menasse- Cremers, with her husband, Dr. Rene Menasse, and Nicole Remouchamps were from Belgium. The rest of our group was from the United States. From California came Eva Salzer, and her husband, Dr. John Salzer; Catherine Bolomet; and leader of the delegation and president of AmericanHandwriting Analysis Foundation, Dr. Patricia Wellingham-Jones, with her husband, Roy Jones. Wyoming was represented by Roy Cooper and Maurine Moore. Joseph and Polly Turner joined us from Oklahoma; New York's Norma Murphy and New Hampshire's Joan Iatt Harlow formed the remainder of our group."
The first lectures were presented at East China Normal University in Shanghai to psychology professions and graduate students hosted by Professor Miao Xiaochun. Next stop was Beijing, then Guilin and Hong Kong. Here are the topics of the lectures these graphologists presented: Leaders and Leadership - Catherine Bolomet The British Experience in Graphology - Paul Ferguson Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890): A Letter to Theo - Joan Hiatt Harlow Chinese Handwriting and Graphology - Marie-Josee Menasse Cremers Writing about Writing - Maurine Moore The Stroke: As Seen by Hegar and French Graphometry Methods Graphological Indicators for Learning Disabilities - Eva Salzer Self-Esteem and the American Adolescent .
